GoldenPalace.com's Wolves-hosted Charity Shootout!
WOLVERHAMPTON, 20 February 2005 -- The Wolves hosted "Charity Shootout Tour Stop" made dreams of three fans come true on Saturday when they enjoyed VIP star style treatment, met their player idols, plus got the chance to kick a penalty shot with a legendary Ball on the turf of Wolverhampton Wanderers (Wolves), aka Molineux Part "The Golden Palace".
Wolves recently hit headlines nationwide when it united with another golden palace, Antigua registered online casino GoldenPalace.com, to host this spectacular Charity Shootout competition. The competition featured what is likely the most famous and valuable Ball in history: the very same Ball that David Beckham infamously kicked out of Euro 2004 during England's playoff loss!
Back in July 2004, event sponsor GoldenPalace.com placed the winning eBay bid of £28,000 for The Ball. The company soon launched a brainchild fundraising initiative using The Ball to benefit charities worldwide.
Not only was this legendary Ball present at Wolves on the match day, yet also true legends of Rock Robert Plant, founder member of Led Zeppelin, and ex-Deep Purple bassist Glenn Hughes. Plant and Hughes are long standing Wolves fans.
"It was a great day", said contestant Mark P. "I will never forget it!"
Wolves seemed equally pleased. "It was an excellent event", said Chris Pope from the Wolves Commercial team earlier today. "We look forward to working with GoldenPalace.com again in the future!"
The presence of legends must have brought the Wolves luck. With the sudden score of a second goal towards the end of the second half, they managed to draw with Gillingham 2:2!
