The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) is working to assist the animal victims of Hurricane Katrina and other disasters, including Hurricane Rita, with teams of responders in the affected areas. Depending on need, we can assist local animal shelters, provide temporary shelter for animals, rescue displaced and injured animals, and reunite lost pets with their owners.

Watching the animal rescue efforts on TV has saddened me terribly. PLEASE! Be generous!  

Our loveable old Luke has donated his Mardi Gras beads for this auction to help the animal victims of hurricane Katrina! Like us, it saddens him to see and hear of the animals left behind or lost due to this terrible storm of storms!!

He has generously donated his beads for the rescue efforts of the Humane Society. The beads with the shrimp, crab and Cajun boots are from New Orleans as are the purple gold and green beads and the beads I threw in.

 Please!! Help!!

100% of the proceeds from this auction go to the Humane Society.

We trust you will find it in your heart to help save these animals and hopefully reunite them with their owners. This is such a sad, sad situation!

Hit by Hurricane Rita!

I am sending this message to everyone. Thanks for your help! I don't have time to explain everything, can't even begin to explain! but we have been SEVERELY hit by hurricane Rita. Can not reach our home but by boat. Much damage but contents of home has little damage from what I'm understanding. HORRIBLE, have never seen anything like this! I have traveled north to find a computer to use but don't think I'll be on line at home for a month or so. Please keep us in your prayers, so far no loss of life in our area, unfortunately, dead animals everywhere, but a lot being rescued. I'm assuming you all have seen the pictures on the news. I can't begin to explain this as it should be. The worst thing I've ever been through! Thank you all, and I will contact you all as soon as I can. Sherry
