My friend and I were doing
something we weren't supposed to be doing, and had to take a
piss. 11pm, near the woods...not a good idea.
Obviously, I can't tell you exactly what we were doing, but
I'm sure you understand. Of course, I wasn't really
paying attention to what I was doing (how much concentration
is needed to pee, anyway) and I casualy looked up as I shook
myself. I saw a large dog coming at us, and nudged my
friend to hurry him along.
Thinking it was a dog, we weren't
too worried. But, of course, it wasn't a dog. It
was a bear cub, thinking he had found two new friends.
Mama Bear obviously had other ideas. She galloped along,
putting herself between us and her baby. Like deer
cought in the headlights, we froze as she stood on her
hindlegs, towering over us, just a few feet seperating
us.
Her roar finally snapped us out
of paralysis. We ran over to the car and tried to open
the doors. It was locked. I fumbled in my pockets
for the keys, but they weren't there. As I asked my
friend if he had them, I saw them hanging out of the
ignition. I looked over the shoulder. Mama Bear
was still coming towards us, now on all fours. I live in
a fairly urbanized area; I don't know how bears are supposed
to act. But I swear she had a smirk on her
face.

I tried to kick in the back
window. One kick - NOTHING! Another kick -
NOTHING! And my friend tries. Still nothing.
But we're near the woods, right. SO I find the biggest
rock possible in the two seconds I give my self to look, and
throw that sucker right through the window. Open the
back door, unlock the rest of the doors, and we drive two
hours home. Freezing our butts off as we recline on
broken glass!!! Every few minutes, we'd start laughing,
and I'd say "Lions and tigers and bears." And my friend
would say, "oh my!"

My sister has just
brought it to my attention that it seems like I (me in the
picture) threw the rock through the window
and pissed in the woods. This is not true.
Unlike a silly man, I KNOW I wouldn't have the
strength to kick in a window. But I also would probably
just bounce that big rock off the window if I tried to throw
it, so I would have been in deep...you know. I figured
me holding the rock, with straining biceps, oh my is that
thing heavy, would show you the bulk more
clearly.

And, shock of all shocks, I got
the window fixed, on Christmas Eve morning, and it only took
about 2 hours. You don't want to know how much that
cost. But still, I LOVE that rock!!!
