A day that many in this country, and around the world, clearly remember.
A day when a great Reverend and leader tragically died.
Many people in this and many other countries remember the wonderful
things Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. did for this country, for freedom and
for equality.
About the bathtub.
This item was owned by Mr. Robert McGowan, who owned the former Bessie
Brewer boardinghouse across the street from the Lorraine Motel where
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was shot. This tub was originally located in
the second floor bathroom of the boardinghouse, from which James Earl
Ray fired the shot that killed Dr. King. The bathtub, in which Ray
stood as he fired through the bathroom window, was acquired by
Honorable D’Army Bailey during the week of April 4, 1983, comes with a
certificate of authenticity signed by the original owner of the
property, and is stamped by a notary from Memphis, Tennessee.
The rooming house was a seedy facility and the bathroom fixtures bore
the signs of age and wear. The overall enamel and iron finish of the
tub is good. There is a .1” to .25” area around the drain hole widening
to 1” at its base where the enamel has worn away from water. There is a
slightly yellowish water mark widening from .5” to 1.5” at the foot
from the faucet to the drain hole. On the back rim there is an
intermittent scratch up to .1” wide and extending 48” long. On top of
the front rim there is a .1” round chip in the enamel and four
intermittent scrape marks from .1” to 1”. On the bottom interior of the
tub at the front is a spotted .25” x 7” semi-circular area of rust
colored discoloration. At the foot on the bottom interior there are
three small rust colored discolorations together measuring 1”. The cast
iron tub measures 30” w x 20” h x 67.5” l.
The front of the tub and half of each end is painted white, which is
flaked and yellowed from age which was its condition at the time of the
assassination. The remainder of the tub, which was hidden by the
bathroom walls, is painted a reddish brown.

email or phone to congratulate him or her as well as confirm the
payment amount and payment instructions. Payment must be in US funds
and received within three (3) business days of the close of the
auction.
Q. What are the accepted methods of payment?
A. We accept the following methods of payment: PayPal, cashier's check
and wire transfer. If paying by cashier’s check, please make payable to
”Kompolt” in US funds and ship via one of the following traceable
sources: Federal Express, Airborne Express, DHL or UPS. Sorry, no

Q. Will a receipt be provided?
A. Yes, a receipt for the final bid amount paid will be provided by Kompolt.
Q. Is there sales tax?
A. Yes. Only residents of the state of California will pay sales tax, which tax is 7.25%.

Q. Who pays for shipping and how will it be shipped?
A. The buyer will pay for all shipping costs. Unless otherwise stated
in the auction listing, all items are shipped via Federal Express.

signature for delivery. Sorry, we cannot deliver to P.O. boxes.
