Update
We've had a few questions on the BDMLR forums
about the watering can auction. All are valid and
useful towards the sale. Faye Archell was one of
the marine medics involved in the 36 hour rescue
attempt. She's also said (in reply to another
post) that she *IS* willing to sign the watering
can, or even get a number of leading members of
BDMLR to sign it ... but only if that's what the
winning bidder wants.

Hi all,
This is
my watering can that I am auctioning for BDMLR
on ebay. It was actually the only watering can
that was used!! It was featured on the front
pages of several papers and even got a mention
in the Mail on Sunday 'desperate to keep the
body wet, one rescuer (that's me!)
produced an incongruous orange (it's
actually red!) watering can and sprayed the
skin'. *LOL* Sky also gave it a few
mentions too.
In answer to some of your
questions - YES all of the money will go to
BDMLR. I have grown up with this charity and
have been on seal releases from when I was a
little girl. This charity means so much to me
and I feel priveledged to have been involved in
the entire rescue yesterday. Myself, along with
medics and vets were with the whale when it died
yesterday. I cannot tell you how proud I am of
everyone who was involved.
Please,
please tell as many people about this auction
and all of the good work the charity does.

As
seen on SkyNews, in the Associated Press, Fark.com and
basically EVERYWHERE! We're absoloutely thrilled
at the attention this is getting.
A
huge Thank You to all the people who've called
their local radio and television stations asking
them to cover this story ... and an even bigger
thank you to the news editors who've
listened.
The
auction is running for the next 8 days and has not
only already met the reserve but it's already
outstripped our wildest estimations.
Thank
you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank
you. |

Q: What's the greatest nation in the
world?
A:
Donation!
A
number of people have written to tell me that the
watering can is out of their price range but
they'd love to send me something that they can
afford (to help towards those darned parking
tickets)
...
I've got to mention the BDMLR
website again. If the watering can is too much for
you, You can send a donation of whatever you can
afford directly to the charity.
By
the way, the parking tickets have been
overturned.

!!!!! Please Note
!!!!!
As one might expect in a situation like
this, we're starting to see what may possibly be
fraudulent bids appearing on the
auction
(although
everyone would like to see a million pounds, even
*I* think that's a bit unrealistic)
If you intend to bid and are indeed
genuine, we'd like to ask that you also click the
'contact seller'
button, send a quick note confirming that your bid
is indeed genuine.
We have to do this in order to ensure both
our protection and yours.
Remember, all the money is going to
charity.

Well
there you are, there are nearly 10,000 people now
watching this auction. If you check out eBay
pulse, we're number 1 watched auction in the
UK.
It is
from the comments that you're sending that I know,
you watched and shared in our joy and elation as
the total climbed to over a hundred thousand
pounds ... and you've watched with varying degrees
of horror, anger, disgust and confusion as it
crashed back down.
The
auction is now under control and all new biders
will be pre-verified ... the auction's not over
until wednesday ... you might still see that fairy
tale ending that you've been hoping out
for.
(just cross your fingers and wish upon a
star for us please) |

following information:
The watering can was signed at a press
conference. You no longer have a choice of whether
you want it signed or not.
As this materially changes the nature of my listing,
I would like to specify that fact before any
pre-approved bidders start entering bids
