The Shadows of GroundHog Day

The only animal to have a day named after it is the groundhog. Groundhog Day is February 2. Traditionally, it is on this day that the groundhog is supposed to awaken and come up out of his burrow. If he sees his shadow, he will return to the burrow for six more weeks of winter. If he doesn?t see his shadow, he remains outside and starts his year, because he knows that spring has arrived early.

In the U.S. , the ?official? groundhog is kept in Punxsutawney , Pennsylvania . Every February 2, early in the morning, ?Punxsutawney Phil? is pulled from his den by his tuxedo-wearing keepers. Phil then whispers his weather prediction into the ear of his keeper, who then announces it to the anxiously-awaiting crowd.

This year Phil had a lot more to worry about than a rude awakening and a shadow: GoldenPalace.com was on hand in the form of a circus lead by the infamous Gleny of gleny.com. None in this troop was rumored to wear, or even own, a tuxedo. Gleny was, from all reports, drop dead sexy in his fur coat and was accompanied by "UNDERHOG", a makeshift super groundhog hero. Apparently, while in transit the creative Gleny whipped up a fur bikini top that became the key element in winning over the tuxedo-sporting old guard. Needless to say , the public ate it all up.

At about 6:30 am the stage was set for Phil?s awakening. After a few knocks on his door, Phil was rousted from his cozy niche to face the elements. Phil got his revenge on the crowd, or at least on Gleny, whose front row view was quickly obscured by the nervous animal?s apparently weak bladder. Naturally, Gleny wasn?t about to take the abuse: Phil was ?convinced? to wear a stylish GoldenPalace.com hat during his interview (though the groundhog probably didn?t have much to say about it).

Phil was a pretty good sport, as the GoldenPalace.com representative got to do his interview before the reporters from CNN, CBS, and FOX. The only bad news: we can look forward to 6 more weeks of winter.

Old Phil doesn't look all that happy to have the hat on... And when the dood in the furry suit goes to hug them, there's a definite look of fear from the top hat guy, AND from Phil. He's lucky he didn't get his nose bitten off!
